A petition to European and national decision-makers
Protect the right to protest. Stop the violence that undermines it.
Peaceful protest is a fundamental right in every European democracy. Arson, looting and attacks on people endanger residents, emergency workers and peaceful demonstrators alike. We ask for clear, lawful measures that stop the violent minority — so that everyone else can keep exercising their rights safely.

It takes less than a minute. We only ask for what is necessary.
What we are asking for
Five proposals, each to be adopted through democratic processes and applied with full legal safeguards.
Protect peaceful protest
The freedom of peaceful assembly must be guaranteed and actively protected. Peaceful participants must never be treated as offenders because others turn violent.
Stop violence firmly
Arson, looting and attacks on people, police, emergency services or property must be stopped promptly and prosecuted consistently.
Military support as a last resort
When ordinary police resources are demonstrably overwhelmed, armed forces should be able to support civilian authorities — only under a clear legal framework, civilian command and parliamentary oversight.
Detention and return, after due process
People without legal residence who take part in serious violence should be held temporarily in simple, humane facilities and, after due process, prioritised for return — never in breach of the principle of non-refoulement.
A shared European entry ban
Strengthen a common European mechanism so that people convicted of serious public-order offences during riots can be refused entry across Europe, with individual assessment and judicial review.
Our goal
Protect the right to protest by removing the violent minority from it.
